Precast Concrete: General

General

Precast concrete is a construction product produced by casting concrete in a reusable mold or "form" which is then cured in a controlled environment, transported to the construction site and lifted into place. Precast elements can be either structural or architectural. In contrast, in-situ concrete is poured into site-specific forms and cured on site.

Often matters will arise, such as transport and erection, which are better understood by reading the MPX WORK HEALTH & SAFETY HANDBOOK. Therefore those matters are not discussed in this Guide.

The reader is urged to view the latest version of the MPX WORK HEALTH & SAFETY HANDBOOK and read it in conjunction with this Guide.
